1. How to pray for Wholeness and Healing
1. The healing miracles of Jesus
It appears in almost every case Jesus didn’t pray for healing he just said the word, touched, spoke with authority, gave an order, etc.. (An exception: The raising of Lazarus)

2. Jesus prayed before important events
However, Jesus did pray before important events. egs. - the calling of the twelve apostles. Luke 6:12-13 - in the Garden of Gethsemane, prior to his arrest. Luke 22:41-44 - the raising of Lazarus. John 11:41-43

3. Why didn’t Jesus normally pray prior to ministering healing?
The healing miracles of Jesus occurred mostly spontaneously ‘on the way’. ie. as he journeyed. An exception was the raising of Lazarus.

4. Did Jesus prepare for his ministry of healing?
Jesus most certainly prepared for his ministry. In Luke 5:16 we read, "But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." There are many examples in the Gospels of Jesus withdrawing to spend time with his Father.

5. The ministry of Peter and Paul in the Acts of the Apostles
When we take a look at the ministry of Peter and Paul in the Acts of the Apostle we find examples showing that they prayed, and then gave an order for healing. ie. the ministry was a combination of prayer, and a word of authority. See Acts 9:40-41, Acts 28:7-8

6. How then should we pray for healing and wholeness?
  • the importance of being led by the Spirit on all occasions
  • daily preparation vital
  • circumstances can dictate how we pray. eg. ministry on the spot, spontaneous
  • a combination of prayer and a word of authority would seem appropriate in normal circumstances.
2. The Authority of Jesus
Jesus’ authority anticipated
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth. Zechariah 9:9-10

Jesus authority’ demonstrated
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law. Matthew 7:28-29

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering." Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him." The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."......Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. Matthew 8:5-9, 13

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" Matthew 8:23-27

"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him....." Matthew 11:27

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20

The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, "What is this? A new teaching - and with authority! He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him." Mark 1:27

I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. John 5:25-27

So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go." John 11:43-44

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:21-22

......and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand - with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. 1 Peter 3:21-22
3. The Authority of Jesus’ Disciples
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9:35-38

He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. Matthew 10:1

".......And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:18-19

"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:18-20

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." Mark 16:17-18

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 9:1-2

The next day, when they came down from the mountain, a large crowd met him. A man in the crowd called out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. A spirit seizes him and he suddenly screams; it throws him into convulsions so that he foams at the mouth. It scarcely ever leaves him and is destroying him. I begged your disciples to drive it out, but they could not." "O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you and put up with you? Bring your son here." Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him to the ground in a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit, healed the boy and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. Luke 9:37-43

"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Luke 11:9-13

Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John 14:11-14

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. John 17:15-18

Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." John 20:21-23

On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:4-8

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4
4. Example of Jesus’ prayer life
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone..... Matthew 14:23

........Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. Matthew 15:29-30

After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light...... Matthew 17:1-3

The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. Mark 6:30-34

Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet. The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter. Mark 7:24-26

Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:15-16

One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles...... Luke 6:;12-13

When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. Luke 9:10-11

He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:41-44

My name is Lilian Mary Schmid (nee Jabbour).
I was born into a Catholic home in Beirut, Lebanon. The civil war in Lebanon left a big pain and sadness in my heart. I immigrated to Australia in 1991 to start a new and peaceful life.

In 1992 I occupied a good position, working as a Human Resources Officer at the Sydney Institute of Technology Ultimo, Sydney. Unfortunately In 1996 I resigned after I was diagnosed with severe back injury which caused me to leave work. In 2000 I had chronic back pain which left me in bed for many months, but the hand of God healed me. It was such an extraordinary experience and I started a wonderful personal relationship with Jesus, which I didn’t have before in my whole life.
I committed myself to the Lord and He called me to serve Him; I was involved with many evangelisation missions across all church denominations, running evangelisation courses in my local parish, and starting bible study programs.

However, my biggest break came when I attended training on Healing with Cannon Jim Glennon and Cannon Jim Holbeck in 2005 at the Healing Centre Golden Grove, Newtown Sydney. This was followed in 2006 with intensive training at the Healing Rooms Australia at Dural, NSW and attending many Conferences run by them. Currently I am also studying for a Bachelor of Theology at the Broken Bay Institute.

I knew in my heart that God is calling me for the Healing Ministry. My husband Bjorn and I have both been involved in workplace ministry since 2007, and I have seen many women encountering problems in the workplace. Since I have the desire for the gift of Healing, and from experience I know in my heart that Jesus is able to heal these women and give them His unconditional love, I dedicated months of prayer and discernment, with assistance from my spiritual director.

God was leading me into this path. Since then I have received many positive responses and witnessed healing in many women that I have mentored, and some of them came to Christ. I then felt the motivation to start this humble ministry with the blessings of many church leaders.

Now, I am calling out to the leaders from all church denominations that God wants us to be united and to heal our wounds; but the only way is through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yours faithfully,
Lilian Schmid

As Lilian's husband, many might think that I'm her biggest fan.

Well I'm not...
...God is her biggest fan.

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he brings peace to you with his love, and he will rejoice over you with singing. [Zep 3:17]

In fact God is the biggest fan of each of us - he delights in His creation and longs for us to desire His eternal companionship, i.e. to be in communion with Him!

I'm no stranger to darkness of the soul; my family has been through many 'interesting times' and sought guidance in a lot of the wrong places. This had a lot to do with the culturally mixed background of my parents families, but also a stubborn pride that we are somehow more superior than others. Of course when reality is different from perception, depression results, and destructive self pity.

There is no time in my life that I remember when I did not believe in the Living God, but I never really knew Him until I was confirmed at the age of twelve. At that time I honestly asked Christ for forgiveness and declared Him to be my Lord, and from that time on my life was not the same. God filled me with His Spirit and so many things that were vague or unclear started to become clear. Suddenly I no longer believed that God exists; I knew God exists.

Like Christian in Pilgrim's Progress, I still went through many dark and dry places, and contended with much of the darkness inherited from my family. But God is ever gracious, he led me step by step towards the healing of my soul and release from the bondage of my past. My loving friends (family) at the Healing Centre in Golden Grove and Healing Rooms at Dural (now Dayspring Castle Hill) were with me on this healing journey, as well as my patient wife!

Now the key desire of my Earthly life is to see Jesus working as he did when we was walking in the flesh 2000 years ago: preaching the Good News of the Kingdom of God, healing the sick, and casting out demons. He does this with us, those who are willing to lay down their lives for Him, who are 'moved with compassion' [Mat 9:36] for the lost and in need, who will obey His command to go into all the World.

As well as being a genuine all-rounder in utilising Information Technology, I also love playing music, creating great visual images, and posting an occasional word of exhoration and support on people's web pages!
Lord, I am not worthy to receive you
but only say the word and I shall be healed
